How to Watch M3U Playlists on a Smart TV (Samsung, LG and others)
Most smart TVs cannot open M3U playlists on their own, but there are three easy ways to get your channels on the big screen.
What you need
- A smart TV on the same Wi-Fi network as your phone or computer
- An M3U / M3U8 playlist link
Steps
-
Option 1: install an IPTV player on the TV
Open your TV’s app store (Samsung Smart Hub, LG Content Store and so on) and search for “IPTV player” or “M3U”. Pick a player you trust, open it and paste or type your playlist link.
-
Option 2: cast from the Doubo app
Play the channel in Doubo on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, tap the cast icon in the player and choose your TV. Many smart TVs accept casting over DLNA on the same network.
-
Option 3: mirror your screen
Many Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio TVs from 2018 onward support AirPlay. On an iPhone or iPad, open Control Center → Screen Mirroring and choose the TV, then play in Doubo full screen.
-
Option 4: use the TV browser
Open the TV’s web browser and go to doubo.tv/web. It works on some TVs; casting or a player app is usually smoother.
Try it in your browser first
No install needed. Doubo’s web player opens free live channels right away, and plays your own M3U links too.

Doubo’s free channel directory lists channels that broadcasters make publicly available, as M3U links you can paste into any player.

Can a Samsung or LG TV play M3U without an app?
Generally no. The built-in media players do not open IPTV playlists, so you need a player app, casting or screen mirroring.
Which option is best?
Casting from your phone needs nothing installed on the TV, so it is the quickest to try. A player app on the TV is better if you watch every day.
