How to Play M3U Playlists on an Android Phone

On Android you can watch right in Chrome with Doubo’s web player, or use VLC for Android. A native Doubo app for Android is coming soon.

What you need

  • An Android phone or tablet
  • Chrome, or VLC for Android from Google Play
  • Optional: your own M3U / M3U8 playlist link

Steps

  1. In Chrome: open the web player

Go to doubo.tv/web and tap a channel to watch. Add your own playlist with Add playlist.

  2. Add it to your home screen

In Chrome’s menu ⋮, choose Add to Home screen to open the web player like an app.

  3. With VLC: open a network stream

Install VLC from Google Play, open More → New stream (Stream in older versions) and paste your playlist link.

Try it in your browser first

No install needed. Doubo’s web player opens free live channels right away, and plays your own M3U links too.

Questions

Is there a Doubo app on Google Play?

Not yet. It is in development; the web player works in the meantime.

Why can some channels play in VLC but not in the browser?

Browsers block some stream types for security reasons. Native players such as VLC or the Doubo app do not have those limits.
